Children & Statistics
OARTY residents are among the most damaged, those difficult and challenging children, youth and adults in Ontario. OARTY member agencies help those who others can't, or won't for various reasons. The individuals we serve are victims of physical and sexual abuse, emotionally disturbed, developmentally challenged, autistic, medically fragile, young offenders, and other hard to serve children, youth and adults.
In 2004/05, OARTY member agencies:
- Provided 3,365 of the residential care beds in Ontario, licensed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services
- Operated over 200 Group Homes and 38 Treatment Foster Care Networks
- Supported 755 treatment foster families
- Supported 2,301 children in group homes
- Supported 1,773 children in foster homes
- Employed approximately 3,200 staff
- Served over 4,000 children and youth in Ontario
